Plant science from every angle

The 11th Finnish Plant Science Days gathered the plant research community to Turku on May 25th-26th 2016. Covering a broad spectrum of topics ranging from rainforest ecology to automated plant phenotyping services and the molecular biology of photosynthesis, the conference gave a versatile and in-depth look into the research area.

Finland is a small country but its is often difficult to keep track of what different research groups and institutes are focusing on. In Turku there were plenty of opportunities to talk informally with people and to discuss possible connections and collaborations. Networking with new and old aquaintances continued in the evening. We had a lovely lovely dinner at the Samppalinna restaurant: delicious food and live music performed by the talented and very appropriately named band J. Sulku and the Chlorofools.

Many thanks to the organizers from the unit of Molecular Plant Biology at the University of Turku. Next time we will meet at the Arctic Circle: the XII Plant Science Days will be hosted by the Natural Resources Institute Luke in Rovaniemi in 2019.
