Visualizing virions

We have access to the nearby services of the Electron Microscopy Unit at the University of Helsinki Institute of Biotechnology and these past few weeks I've spent several hours with Andres Lõhmus at the electron microscope capturing images of PVA particles.

We use 2 % uranyl acetate (neutral pH) to stain our samples before imaging with the Jeol JEM-1400 transmission electron microscope.
